چکیده

In this paper, we propose an agreement-based fault detection and recovery protocol for cluster head (CH) in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) of two level cluster hierarchy. The aim of protocol is to accurately detect CH failure to avoid unnecessary energy consumption caused by a mistaken detection process. For this, it allows each cluster member to detect its CH failure independently. Cluster members employ distributed agreement protocol to reach an agreement on failure of the CH among multiple cluster members. The detection process runs concurrently with normal network operation by periodically performing a distributed detection process at each cluster member To reduce energy consumption, it makes use of heartbeat messages sent periodically by a CH for fault detection. Simulation results show, our protocol provides high detection accuracy because of agreement protocol. Keywords—Wireless Sensor Network, Clustering, Fault detection, Agreement protocol, Detection accuracy.

EEBFTC: Extended Energy Balanced with Fault Tolerance Capability Protocol for WSN

This paper proposes a new framework for wireless sensor networks (WSN) by combining two routing protocol algorithms. In the proposed framework two algorithms are taking into consideration the energy balanced clustering (EBC) protocol in WSN with fault tolerance capabilities. The organizer is automatically selected by the base station (BS) and then it selects the cluster head (CH). The mechanism...

On Feasibility of Adaptive Level Hardware Evolution for Emergent Fault Tolerant Communication

A permanent physical fault in communication lines usually leads to a failure. The feasibility of evolution of a self organized communication is studied in this paper to defeat this problem. In this case a communication protocol may emerge between blocks and also can adapt itself to environmental changes like physical faults and defects. In spite of faults, blocks may continue to function since ...

Multihop Alternate Cluster Head Fault Tolerant Dynamic Clustering Protocol for Wireless Sensor Network

This paper introduces MACH-FTDC (Multihop Alternate Cluster Head Fault Tolerant – Dynamic Clustering) protocol for wireless sensor network that provides fault tolerance as well as reduced data loss with mobility as compared to the existing FT-DSC protocol. It introduces mobility which is important to some of the real world applications. This protocol does tradeoff between sensor node energy and...

Cluster Based Fault Identification And Detection Algorithm For WSN- A Survey

The fault tolerant and reliable dissemination is an important issue in WSN, due to the deployment of sensor nodes in hostile environment. Most of the clustering algorithms are concentrated to increases the network lifetime and reduces the energy consumption among the sensor nodes and do not consider the reliability of the networks. Fault tolerance techniques detect and recover the sensor nodes ...

Novel Multi Level Clustering Approach to Reduce Energy Consumption during Clustering Process in Wireless Sensor Networks

The rapid growth of network utilization raises a new concept as wireless sensor networks (WSN). Sensor networks consist of spatially distributed autonomous sensor to monitor physical or environmental conditions (i.e. temperature, sound pressure etc.) to develop area monitoring, air quality monitoring, and forest fire detection kind of applications. The major design constraint with WSN is resour...
